Rabbit adoption inside or outside advise
I am looking at adopting a rabbit from our local shelter. I have had a rabbit before and he lived outside in a nice hutch with playyard for during the day. I would like this rabbit to live outside primarily also but is that going to be a problem since its Feb and he is used to living inside. Is there a way I can adjust him to the outside life without a shock? Any info would be great thanks.

Perhaps you should wait till spring or summer when it is nice out and put the rabbit out during the day and in at night at first feeding it while outside eventually leaving it outside with proper shelter of course by the time cold weather is back your rabbit should be able to adjust fine.

Chrissy, first of all, congratulations for thinking of adopting a rabbit and not buying one (there are lots and lots of rabbits for adoption).
As to their living outside, it depends where you live and what kind of rabbit you adopt. There are species that would not survive outside in the winter regardless of whether you acclimate them slowly or not (which you would have to do when the weather is at its mildest for your region).
The other consideration when keeping animals outside is parasites (external -like fleas, ticks and mites- and internal -like the ones transmitted by mosquitos) so, personally, I don’t ever think it’s a good idea because you cannot ever control all the variables.
Good luck and enjoy your bunny!
