How Many Dogs Have You Owned as Pets?

When I was a teen, my parents had a toy poodle.  Got real attached to my father.  Tempermental little SOB terrorized the rest of the family.

Prior to military service, I adopted a large German Shepherd from the pound.  As I was living alone, when I enlisted I had to give her away (to a friend).  We had gotten so attached fast cause I guess she was just happy I took her out of that place.  Never nipped at me.  After one week, she bit my friend's arm causing him to get ten stitches.

After military, a friend gave me a mixed Shepherd-Terrier.
Looked more like a lab to me.  Unfortunately, after several years, lost him in an apartment fire, just prior to a move out of state.

When married, took in two Boston Terriers from in laws.  Lost one to Lepto disease.  Have three more since, so now we have four BT's.  Most affectionate dogs I've had so far.
Wife loves them.  It's like a petting zoo here now.  Undecided

One has occasional seizures (about one every six months.  She's the eldest and we will probably be losing her in no more than two more years, as she's up there in her senior years now.  Losing pets is the hardest price to pay for having them.

As I grew up in the country side, I've always had a dog. My first dog was a German Shepherd. A few years before he died we took a black Labrador puppy. At first the German Shepherd didn't seem to like the fact that we had taken another dog, but soon after he changed his mind. He thought the Labrador how a proper dog should behave like and all that. Two years went by and the German Shepherd died. Sad A year later, the Labrador got missing. Sad Then we didn't have a dog for half a year, hoping the Labrador to come back home. It didn't happen, though. However, when we realized that we need a new dog, we wanted to make sure we take a large enough dog to not "get lost" because we live in a rural area where wolves have been reported to attack dogs. So we took a new puppy. He is a mix of Leonberger and Rhodesian Ridgeback. He weights over 130 pounds while being the sweetest thing ever.
