Water Bowl Question

On occasion, we have found that if water is left in reservoir too long, it seems to attract small flies and larva is formed in the water.  Other than trying to keep the bowl clean as possible to prevent bacteria, any other tips on preventing this, anyone may know about?

The bowl does accommodate 4 Boston Terriers.  It is about a gallon sized container that self fills the bowl.

Thanks.

You certainly want to keep the water fresh. I guess cleaning it often is about all that can be done.
