Hi. I have a hamsters too. Truth is, hamsters can hardly be trained. For food, just out a food dish and do not forget a waterer too.

In the wild, hamsters eat whole grains like corn and oats. They also eat fresh fruit, root vegetables like carrots and turnips, leafy green plants and grasses (clover, alfalfa and lettuces), seeds, insects (like crickets and grasshoppers), mealworms and sometimes small animals. If this sounds like a wide variety of foods, that's the point. They are omnivores and get their vitamins, minerals, essential oils, fats, proteins and carbohydrates from all of the different foods that they eat.

But pet hamsters don't have a choice. They must eat whatever you give them, so make sure you take the time to learn about what foods are good for your pets and what foods can harm them.

The best diet you can provide for your hamster would be to replicate what they would eat in the wild as much as possible. Pet stores have different manufactured hamster foods and treats that you can buy, but actually they are never as nutritious as fresh foods that have not been processed.

In that respect, hamster nutrition is similar to human nutrition: an apple and a fresh salad is healthier and better for you (and your pet hamster) than a bag of potato chips and a glazed donut. (By the way, don't ever feed your hamster potato chips or donuts, or any human junk food! They are so small that the concentration of additives, fats and chemicals could make them really sick.)

Never wash Hamsters with water, they will get sick easily, I wash them with fragrant white sand.  Roll Eyes

I agree with Leon.Hamsters are desert animals and that way they never have to be washed!
Because hamsters are taking care of their hygiene, human role in this regard is very small.
Hamsters fur does not need special care, but they like to be brushed with a soft brush.
