Help for my Hamster :o(

We have a 3 yr old hamster who up untill just recently was a very active little guy.. In the past few days he has slowed down to a crawl, won't open his eyes and is having a hard time even holding his head up. He eats as best he can and is still drinking water.. He stays in his cage, its cleaned weekly.. Is he maybe just growing old?  His fur is thinning too. Any insight will be appreciated. My next move is the local vets office..

Hi Sparky.  I am so sorry for your little hamster not feeling well.  Unfortunately, hamsters do not live very long.  I think it is only 3 to 6 years.  But maybe the vet will find something treatable and can give him some medicine to help him feel better and he will be around a bit longer.  Keep us posted on him.
