Rest in peace little Brownie

I found a stray kitten outside my door last evening.  She was breathing very hard and would not eat food.  I brought her in before the sleet fell in another specially prepared room away from my cats and from newly adopted Silverbelle.  The kitten would mew occasionally.  This morning, the food and water appeared untouched and she was still breathing in a labored way. I rushed to the vet hoping that something could be done for her.  The x-rays showed her lungs were almost totally filled with fluid. The vet said there wasn't much hope and recommended for her to be put down. She did not have a name but I thought that she should be immortalized as "Brownie." I knew her for just an evening but I cried like a baby. The small consolation is that she didn't suffer and die in the cold streets. Rest in peace sweet little kitten.

Poor little baby.  At least she fell into loving arms and a warm home in which to spend her last hours.  Thank you for doing what you could for her.

Stray_adopter you did a good thing for that baby.  At least she was comfortable and out of the cold.  I know how you feel as I had a stray show up, a kitten, and it couldn't walk.  He was dragging his back legs.  I took him to the emergency vet and it turned out his back was broken.  God only knows what happened to him.  But I cried all the way to the vet, at the vet and all the way home from the vet.  Deep down I knew he was probably going to be put down and it still hurt so bad. I held him  while he went to sleep and then I brought him back to my home and buried him in my backyard.   We all do what we can for these little ones.

Aww.. that's really a sad story.  I'd like to commend you for having a soft sport for that kitten and helping her even in the last hours of her life.
