need advise on blue heelers bleeding gums

My blue heelers gums seem to be bleeding very easy and he has bad breath due to the blood. This has not happen before. I do not see anything stuck in his mouth. He will be 4 this month and pretty healthy-no pain and he is eating and drinking just fine-any ideas?

Sounds like he may have gum disease or tooth problems.  You should take him to your vet for a dental exam and cleaning.

I agree with tempest. Age four is around the time that dogs need their first dental cleaning. You should take him for an oral exam ASAP before the problem gets any worse. If you let the problem go on much longer than the routine dental cleaning may cost you more money if there are extractions or more invasive work needed.

I agree.  He probably could use a good teeth cleaning.

I definately agree with everyone else.  It is probably not the blood that is causing the odor, proabaly is the tartar that is on the teeth.  If you look at the teeth, do you see a thick layer of hard stuff?  That is what needs to come off to help prevent further gum disease/gingivitis.  So a trip to the vet is in order.

I agree that it sounds like he needs a professional cleaning from your vet.  Dogs/cats need to have their teeth brushed at least once a week and dental cleanings once a year for the best outcome.

She needs to be evaluated.  The first thing  that came to mind is vonwildebrandt disorder, which is a bleeding disorder
