Dwarf Rottweiler
Jul 18th, 2010 at 1:19am

I have a 7 month old female Rotti who is 41 pounds, I had her checked by my local vet who takes care of my two year old male Rotti who is 120 pounds, and who was 90 pounds at 7 months old.  My vet checked the liver and after the that test came back as normal, he then performed an ultrasound, and afterwards xrays to cover the heart, lungs, and joints.  Every test came back normal and the vet feels 99% sure that she has pituitary dwarfism.  The vet went ahead and took a blood sample and sent it in to a place in Michigan that performs the test to verify dwarfism. My female is AKC registered (she is not some dog that was made from two different breeds to look like a Rotti, she is 100% pure German Rottweiler). If there is someone out there who has another AKC male Rotti with dwarfism, please send me an email to lanz72@yahoo.com I want to see if you have comfirmed your pets condition and if not I can get you the info to have the test performed.  Thanks to anyone out there who has any info for me, that can get me closer to finding another male with the same condition.

Note: My female is properly proportioned (legs, head, and torso are equally proportioned) She is a beautyful looking german Rottweiler with only one exception . . . she is 41 pounds...lol  . . . The attached photo is of my female Rotti who is now full grown at 41 pounds.

never heard of this. Check with your breeder to see if genetic
testing has ever been done or other pups with this condition
