American Eski with outdoor issues
Nov 16th, 2009 at 11:43am

I have a 1 1/2 year old American Eskimo mini, who has some issues I'm trying to break of and need some ideas. She listens inside and listens while on a leash outside. Problem is she likes to run outside when one of the kids aren't paying attention and it takes forever ( I'm talking a couple hours ) to catch her. When she's outside loose she won't listen for anything, can't even bribe her with treats. I'm  afraid she will get be a car or train one of these days or get attacked by another dog.
How can I teach her to listen while outside but unleashed? I have a big yard ( 1 acre) but it's not fenced in.

My guess would be to try getting her into an obedience school through your local pet store or an individual or you may have to break down and put a fence up just for her.  Someone else may have some better suggestions as I am a cat owner and haven't owned a puppy in quite some time.  Hope you find some answers soon.

My vet was really helpful and suggested all sorts of helpful ideas for me. It really depends on where you live and how much time you have etc. By going to your local vet you will be able to figure it all out and he/she will give you sound advise on possibilities in your area.
