pet cremation questions
Dec 9th, 2008 at 5:50pm

I hate to begin my visits here with this topic but recently I lost a pet &, unlike previous situations was unable to bury the cat.
Following cremation, however, I began to have questions & haven't found any online info (or from friends, either) that helps.
Maybe someone here can either help me or point me to a source for info...

There have been controversies regarding the handling of human remains at crematoriums, so I wonder if there might not be sometimes problems at pet facilities.

What do the remains look like?
I thought the remains would be more or less consistent but
what I recieved was surprising in that it was a mix of fine & crude material (some almost as large as small pebbles).
Is that usual?

I was also surprised by the size of the remains.
Is there any general scale for that compared to the size/weight of the animal?

I realize this is a bit morbid but I am completely at a loss here & would appreciate any info.

Thank you.

Hi
Did you have a communial or private cremation? Communial is that there are more than one pet cremated at the same time and private is that there is only your pet cremated at the same time.

Hi,

I got this info off a website I found "A pound reduces to approximately one cubic inch of ashes". There is also a FAQs section of the website that I think might help with this or any other question you might have. The site is www.laserpals.com there's a FAQs link on the left side of the page.
